Delores Sikkila (Libor, Quast) Delores was born August 2nd, 1938 to Peter and Mary (Kittock) Libor of Delano, MN. She was the 12th, child of the 17 in the Libor family. She attended St. Peter’s Catholic School of Delano through the 8th grade. She then attended the St. Francis High School as a boarder, putting herself through high School while working at St. Otto’s Nursing Home. She graduated in 1956. Delores worked as a secretary until she married Stanley Alvin Quast of Winsted, MN. They resided in Shakopee, MN until purchasing a home in Chaska, MN. Her children were Russell, Jeffrey, Juanita, Lisa, Lori and James. They moved to a hobby farm north of Delano, there Delores raised steers, pigs, chickens and planted large vegetable gardens. Stanley was a mechanic. In 1998, her husband passed away. In 2000 Delores moved to Delano where she resided until 2004, when she married Marvin Sikkila of Buffalo, MN. They resided together in Buffalo. Delores was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church of Buffalo, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She and Marv volunteered at the Buffalo Food Shelf. Delores loved to dance and was a former member of the Polka Club of America. She was an avid fisher lady and loved fishing lakes and rivers for over 40 plus years. Her largest trophy fish was an 11 lb. walleye from the Crow River north of Delano. She learned to shoot guns after she married Marvin. She really enjoyed this hobby. She hunted deer with slugs and muzzleloader. Delores also went pheasant hunting and prairie dog shooting in South Dakota. She was a member of the national and local Cowboy Action Shooting Club of Cokato and the Buffalo sportsman’s club where she did trap shooting. She also did long range shooting, where she and Marv traveled to various competitions in other communities. Delores was a Red Cross disaster worker and was DSHR certified to travel for disasters in the U.S. She also enjoyed reading and corresponding with friends and family on the computer. Delores was a member of the Delano American Legion, but inactive since moving to Buffalo, MN. Delores and Marvin loved to play cards, bingo and going to the casinos throughout the state. She was a member of the EAA and loved to attend the Oshkosh Ari Show in WI. Marv is a pilot. She and Marv loved to travel. They took a trip to Alaska, which was Delores’s lifelong dream trip. They took numerous other trips in the U.S. Her love for feeding the birds all her life made her aware of the necessity of planting trees, bushes and flowers wherever she lived. She always said she was creating a jungle for the next tenants, besides habitat for her birds. She had a green thumb and always demanded her seedlings to grow, which they did as ordered… Delores will be missed by “her Bunny” Marv, their two families and many dear friends and relatives. She loved people no matter where she traveled in life. She had a great sense of humor. She loved to sing, laugh and “pull her own strings in life”. Her mottos were: “Life is what you make it!”, and “Trust in the Lord to help you make it a good life”, which she did. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday 3-10-10, 11 A.M. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Buffalo, visitation held 1 hour prior to the service atchurch and Tuesday 5-7 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo
